  • Dr Gabriel Gatica-Bahamonde

    Dr Gabriel Gatica-Bahamonde, MSc MD PhD(c), is a graduate visiting student in the Mental Health | Policy | Economics group in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Cambridge. His research is focused on Early Mental Health, particularly on health care systems for Child Neurodevelopmental disorders.

    Dr. Gatica-Bahamonde is Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and Researcher at Tremün Lab, a Non-Governmental Organization that promotes research in rural and ethnic populations in the south of Chile. He is also an advisor to the Araucanía Sur Health Service and the Chilean Ministry of Health on topics related to Infant Mental Health.

    He is currently a PhD Candidate at the Department of International Health, Care and Public Health Research Institute (CAPHRI), Maastricht University, the Netherlands.

  • Dr David Palma Diaz

    David Palma is a public health clinician, MD (PUC, Chile), MPH (UPF/UAB, Spain) and PhD candidate (Maastricht University, NL), working as a CIBERESP researcher at the Epidemiology Service of the Public Health Agency of Barcelona (ASPB). His research focuses on sexual health and the continuum of care provided by sexual health services. This includes the identification of key populations, characterization of their behaviours and practices with increased risk of HIV/Sexually transmitted infection (STI) acquisition and developing interventions for their correct linkage to care. His main approaches are quantitative analyses, but inforced with qualitative evaluation and community interventions.

    During his time in ASPB he has established as a program a previously piloted rapid test intervention. By recruiting participants from geosocial networking apps addressed to gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM), from 2015 to 2021 they have been study sexualized drug use (chemsex) and STI behavioral surveillance. From 2021 the program is evaluating the social determinant of health (SDH) involved in the access to sexual health care and chemsex between GBMSM. He has also supported field epidemiology research during the MPOX outbreak, and the current HCV increase in cases in the city Barcelona.

    Furthermore, he has worked as quantitative analyses in the Project “BAR2LEGAB”: European cross-country study about barriers to accessing legal abortion services and women travelling for abortion services. Conducted by the European Research Council (ERC). Since 2021 he has taught the methodology research course for the Master in Gender and Social Interventions on the University Bernardo O’Higgins, Chile.

  • Holly Hodges

    Holly Hodges is a graduate student on the Population Health Sciences MPhil at the Department of Public Health and Primary Care, University of Cambridge. She previously studied for her BA in Psychological and Behavioural Sciences in the Department of Psychology at the University of Cambridge, where she conducted a systematic review on factors associated with age of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) diagnosis.

    For her MPhil research project, she will be conducting a systematic review and meta-analysis on autism prevalence among migrants and minority ethnic groups.

  • Dr Oby Enwo

    Dr. Oby Enwo, MBBS BSc (Hons), is a public health registrar currently completing her MPhil in Population Health Sciences at the University of Cambridge. She had previously earned a First Class Honours in Biochemistry from King's College London, followed by a medical degree from Norwich Medical School. During her medical education, she conducted research focused on the impact of life events on health in later life. Subsequently, she engaged in research related to the association between anticholinergic drugs and emergency department admissions in the elderly. As an Academic Clinical Fellow, Dr Enwo also worked with Norwich Medical School's Health Data Interpretation Group to investigate the impact of COVID-19 on health service activity and outcomes.

    For her MPhil research project, Dr. Enwo will be exploring the managerial regulation of health service leadership across OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) countries.

  • Sophie Wolmer

    Sophie Wolmer is an MPhil student at the University of Cambridge, where she studies Population Health Sciences in the Department of Public Health and Primary Care. She graduated from Amherst College with honors in Neuroscience and Philosophy, completing two thesis projects entitled "Benzodiazepine Modulation of Gustatory Coding in the Parabrachial Nucleus" and "The Influence of the Family on the 'Autonomous' Organ Donor." During her undergraduate studies, she also collaborated on two stroke disparities projects with Dr. Laura Stein of Mount Sinai Hospital, the first of which was published in April 2023. While at Amherst, Sophie served as a two-year captain of the varsity track and cross-country teams, was a multiple time All-American and All-Conference distance runner, held the position of Managing News Editor at the School Newspaper for three-years, and served as the crew chief of Amherst College EMS.

    For her MPhil dissertation project, she will be conducting a Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Semaglutide in Substance Use Disorder. Next year, she plans to attend medical school in the United States.

  • Julia Snegg

    Julia Snegg is a graduate student at the University of Cambridge completing her MPhil in Population Health Sciences, with a specialization in Global Health. She also graduated with Honors from American University in Washington DC, with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health. As a part of her undergraduate career, she conducted research on respiratory health issues among swimmers as well as policy mapping Mid-Atlantic cities to address a broader set of public health issues faced by municipalities including housing, alcohol sales, complete streets, air quality, tobacco 21 laws, access to healthy foods, and education. Before coming to Cambridge, Julia was working as a Public Health Advisor for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). She was assigned to the Washington DC Department of Health, Office of Health Equity to develop a District-wide, linked, transportation-related injury surveillance system to assess underreported crash and injury data and to conduct equity analyses on underlying contributors to the distribution of injuries and fatalities.

    For her MPhil dissertation project, she will be policy mapping problematic internet use across Europe. Specifically, she will be assessing the current policy landscape and building a set of recommendations as a policy toolkit to address this public health concern.

  • Danielle Castro

    Description goes hereDanielle Castro is an MPhil student at the University of Cambridge, where she studies Population Health Sciences in the Department of Public Health and Primary Care. She graduated from Yale College with a certificate in global health and a joint B.S./M.S. degree in molecular biochemistry. Her thesis was on the development of novel drug candidates for chordoma spine cancers. She has also conducted public health research in Connecticut and the Peruvian Amazon and hopes to continue conducting health and health equity research long-term.

  • Pablo Paulsen

    Pablo Paulsen is a grad student at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile, studying pharmaceutical chemistry. He is currently working on his thesis in the Department of Psychiatry. His thesis is about the influence of ACE accumulation in the development of depression and treatment-resistant depression. As a grad student, he worked on preclinical trials measuring impulsivity in rats and developed an interest in neuropsychiatry, hoping to pursue higher education soon in both research and clinical application.
